A loader that looks perfect in the catalog can turn out to be a poor fit for your specific tractor - and you'll find out only after delivery, when fixing it is expensive and slow. Here's what to check before buying a front loader to avoid that problem.

Front Axle Load Capacity

This is the most important, and most often overlooked, parameter. Your tractor's technical passport lists the maximum permissible front axle load capacity - and that number, not the loader's stated lift capacity, should be your primary reference point. Even if a loader is technically capable of lifting more weight, overloading the front axle leads to accelerated bearing wear, frame deformation, and a dangerous loss of steering control.

Tractor Hydraulic System Output

A loader runs off the tractor's hydraulics, so pump output (liters per minute) needs to match the requirements of the specific loader model. Lift Speed and Work Cycles

The tractor's hydraulic output determines not just whether the loader can lift a given load, but how quickly it does so. For intensive daily use - such as unloading transport or feeding livestock several times a day - it's worth checking whether the loader's cycle speed matches your farm's actual needs, not just the spec sheet maximum.

How to Check Compatibility Before Buying

The most reliable method is to compare your tractor's technical passport (model, engine power, front axle load capacity, hydraulic pump output) against the technical specifications of the specific NT loader model. If some of this data isn't on hand, your tractor's serial number and model will let a manager pull the exact parameters from the manufacturer's official catalogs.

Don't rely solely on visual fit or general equipment class - two tractors of the same horsepower can have significantly different front axle load capacities depending on model and trim.
