How to prepare a tractor for the season of field work: machinery, equipment, and spare parts

The start of the field season is always a race against time. While some farms are already heading out into the field, others are just starting to check their machinery and look for the necessary equipment. In order not to lose days and money due to an unprepared tractor or the lack of a required unit — it is worth taking care of preparation in advance. In this article, we will break down step-by-step what needs to be checked, what equipment will be needed, and where to get everything necessary.

Step 1. Technical inspection of the tractor before the season

Before attaching any equipment — the tractor must be in proper technical condition. Even a small malfunction that did not cause trouble in winter can become a serious problem in the midst of sowing or harvesting.

What to check without fail:

Hydraulic system — check the oil level and condition, the presence of leaks in hoses and connections. Most attachments operate precisely from the tractor's hydraulics, so its serviceability is critical.

Operating hours and maintenance service — if the time for replacing filters or oil has come — do it before the start of the season, and not after the very first trip out into the field.

Battery and electrical system — especially important after winter. Check the charge, condition of contacts, and operation of all signaling systems.

Tires — inspect for wear and damage. A flat or worn tire in the field can stop work for a few hours.

If during the inspection malfunctions are found — do not delay repairs. Timely replacement of worn parts is significantly cheaper than unscheduled machinery downtime during the season. Original AGRIS GROUP spare parts fit the entire line of machinery of our own production and are available in stock at the warehouse in Ternopil.

Step 2. Front-end loader — basic equipment for any farm

If you still haven't installed a front-end loader on your tractor — it is high time to do so. This is one of the most cost-effective investments for a farm of any size. With a loader, the tractor transforms into a universal machine: it moves grain, bales of hay and straw, fertilizers, silage, clears snow, and performs dozens of other operations.

The series of front-end loaders NT from Agris Group covers models for compact tractors and for powerful machines of the EURO class. Lifting capacity ranges from 500 to 2300 kg depending on the model. All loaders are manufactured by our own production in Ternopil, which guarantees spare parts availability and prompt service.

Important: all Agris machinery Group is covered by the state compensation program covering 25% of the purchase cost. This significantly reduces the actual acquisition cost for the farm.

Step 3. Attachments — how one loader replaces several machines

A front-end loader becomes truly universal thanks to attachments, which are mounted on a quick-release front plate. By changing the attachment in a few minutes — you get a fundamentally different machine for another task.

The most popular items for the field season:

Hydraulic bale grab — indispensable for forage harvesting. It allows moving bales of hay and straw without damage and without manual labor.

Big bag lifting hook — for working with large bags of fertilizers, seed, or grain. Simple, reliable, and very practical in daily work.

EURO silage grab — efficiently moves silage mass from storage to feeding troughs. It saves time and physical effort when feeding cattle.

Having several attachments for a single loader allows you to completely forgo additional machinery and significantly reduce fleet maintenance costs.

Step 4. Headers — preparing for harvesting

If your farm grows corn or sunflower — the issue of a header is better resolved in advance, rather than at the height of the season when the choice is limited and delivery times increase.

Agris Group offers headers of two primary directions:

Sunflower headers — ensure minimal harvesting losses and are compatible with most combine brands.

Corn headers — powerful and high-performance models for efficient operation even with large harvesting volumes.

A correctly selected header directly affects the profitability of the season: every percent of prevented harvesting loss is real money for the farm.

Preparation for the field season is not a one-time event, but systematic work that begins long before heading out into the field. Serviceable machinery, correctly selected attachments, and timely replaced spare parts are the three components that determine the productivity and profitability of the season.
