The hydraulics on a front loader run under constant peak loads - every lift, tilt, and sudden stop creates a pressure spike in the system. Without a damping component, these spikes gradually wear down seals, hoses, and the pump. What a Hydraulic Accumulator Is and How It Works

A hydraulic accumulator is a sealed vessel divided into two chambers by a membrane or piston. One chamber is filled with compressed gas (usually nitrogen), while the other is connected to the loader's hydraulic system. When the system experiences a sudden pressure spike - for example, when abruptly lifting a bucket loaded with heavy material - some of the fluid flows into the accumulator, compressing the gas chamber and absorbing the hydraulic shock. Once the peak load passes, the fluid flows back into the system.
